Interim CBI Director Nageswar Rao cancels all orders that were set in motion by the reappointed CBI Chief Alok Verma. Verma was authorised by the Supreme Court to take charge of the CBI once again on January 9.
Verma after helming the CBI Chief chair inked nearly 24 transfer orders in two days. But the high level selection committee headed by the Indian PM Narendra Modi won against Verma’s resurrection to the CBI Chief’s post.
Verma was then transferred to the Director General of Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guards.
Earlier, Verma and his deputy Rakesh Asthana have been stripped off their powers since the late night of October 23 last year and Nageswar Rao was appointed as the acting CBI Director. Rao has been at the charge for 77 days.
