Bike borne miscreants hurled hand grenades killing 3 people & causing injury to ten persons. This grievous incident happened in Rajasansi village at the Nirankari Bhawan on Sunday. Despite high alert in Punjab, it still suffered the attack.
Dinkar Gupta, DGP Intelligence had increased protection on Wednesday. He had supervised the district police chiefs to remain alert & to hold strong the second line of defence.
The attackers managed to flee the spot after the attack. The intelligence has report that Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists were “planning to move towards Delhi”.
The attackers are still at large. The Punjab CM, Capt. Amarinder Singh has announced a reward of 50 lakhs to provide any information regarding the attackers.
Suresh Arora, Punjab DGP said, “It appears to have a terror angle. Because it is against a group & it is not against any individual. There is no reason to throw a hand grenade on a group of people, so we will take it as a terrorist act. Till proven otherwise, prima facie we will take it as that”.
The Punjab CM tweeted, “We will not let the forces of terror destroy our hard earned peace. I appeal to the people of Punjab to maintain peace in the wake of Amritsar bomb blast. I urge them not to panic & to remain calm”.
