Brexit Plan Disturbs Theresa May’s Leadership

British Prime Minister Theresa May gears up for a challenge on her leadership. The Conservative party’s lawmakers are set to vote her in or out today at 1600 to 2000 hours.

Britain has nosedived itself into a crisis after being separated from the European Union (EU). On December 11, May roamed the European capitals to withdraw the agreement after working out the details with Brussels for over 2 years. May was due to face the PM’s Question Time in the Parliament yesterday.

The Conservative MPs have disapproved her of managing the Brexit process. The 48 required members of the Conservative MPs have sent letters questioning her directorship to put her in the voting ring.

The letters were forwarded to the so-called 1922 committee organized for such purposes. The Chairman of the 1922 committee, Graham Brady announced the Conservative party has reached the minimum criteria 15% for the confidence vote.

Theresa May’s position is challenged and is open to possible contenders such as former foreign secretary Boris Johnson, former Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab, Home Secretary Sajid Javid and International Development Secretary Penny Mordaunt.

March 29, 2019 marks the date of separation of United Kingdom from the EU.
