New greenish yellow coloured 20 rupee notes of dimension 63 mm in length and 129 mm in width will be released soon by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in the same Mahatma Gandhi series as announced by the RBI in a notification dated April 26.
The RBI said, “The base colour of the note is Greenish Yellow. The note has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse.”
The new 20-rupee note will bear the signature of the RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das along with the Guarantee clause and RBI emblem to the right of Mahatma Gandhi portrait.
Meanwhile, the released notification by the RBI also said, the current 20-rupee notes will be in continuation in the bazaar.
The RBI statement added, “The new (Rs 20) denomination has motif of Ellora Caves on the reverse, depicting the country’s cultural heritage.”
The front side of the new note will also bear the watermark ’20’, with the numeral 20 preceded by the rupee symbol written in Devanagari.
The RBI security thread will be inscribed with micro letters ‘RBI’, ‘BHARAT’, ‘INDIA’ and ‘20’.
While, the reverse side of the note will have the ‘Swachh Bharat’ logo with the slogan.
