PATNA: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has written to Union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu asking him to include all state capitals in the list of smart cities.

He also requested the resources flow to all the previously selected 100 cities from first year itself.

In his two-page letter, Kumar said, the states have been allotted 100 cities based on a formula by giving equal weightage to urban population of the states and the number of statutory towns in the state.

Ironically, Bihar being less urbanized, and in need of more central support was given only three cities.

“Naturally all these 100 cities, spread across the country should have been selected for smart cities mission. Instead of this, only 20 cities were perfunctorily selected nationally, wherein none of the cities from Bihar was chosen”, wrote Kumar.

Kumar also met Naidu on Thursday in New Delhi and discussed it in details.
