Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who happens to have seen the trailer of Bajirao Mastani has tweeted that it will be Bajirao Mastani which will clash with SRK’s Dilwale as the Ranbir Singh-starring movie will also hit the screens on 18 December this year.
“Bajirao Mastani trailer is attached to Bajrangi Bhaijaan. And, yes, it’s releasing on 18 Dec 2015. Clashing with Dilwale,” he tweeted.
If the mega-clash with Karan Arjun co-star Salman Khan on Eid next year wasn’t enough, actor Shah Rukh Khan will be involved in a box office collision with two former heroines Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra this December.
Bajirao Mastani, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali with who SRK made Devdas, had booked December 18 for his film a while ago. In June, SRK announced that Dilwale would release the same day. The grapevine suggested that Mr Bhansali was considering delaying Bajirao Mastani to next year, partly because a shoulder injury put lead actor Ranveer Singh in hospital and partly because he apparently wanted to redo the much-discussed Dola Re-like dance-off between Deepika and Priyanka.
The trailer, which the likes of us will be able to watch only when Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan releases this Friday, confirms that December 18 it is.
In November 2007, an SRK film clashed with a Bhansali movie and emerged victorious – Om Shanti Om, which co-starred Deepika and Saawariya.
Meanwhile, much has been made of the SRK-Salman clash of 2016, when their films Raees and Sultan will release on the same day. Neither Khan has confessed to any butterflies in the stomach although Salman has said that if anybody should be worried, it’s him.
Dilwale, directed by Rohit Shetty, also stars Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. Bajirao Mastani is a period piece with Ranveer as the eponymous Peshwa, Deepika as his second wife Mastani and Priyanka as senior wife Kashibai.
