‘Pinga’ reminds us of ‘Dola re Dola’

Seems like Sanjay Leela Bhansali sure couldn’t recreate the Dola re dola magic from Devdas but the good news is that his cult song sure is still as popular as ever! While Devdas’ song Dola re dola had Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit, Bajirao Mastani’s song Pinga had Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra engaged in a face off. Some people couldn’t help but reminisce Pinga as Dola re dola’s recreation but some thought otherwise.

Pinga is a Maharashtrian folk dance which ladies perform various function. Lavani is a traditional dance performed  by trained dancers in stage shows. Pinga song is not a Lavani or not a Pinga, this song is mishmash of Lavani and Pinga.

Here the Pinga  song reminds one of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit
‘Pinga’ reminds us of ‘Dola re Dola’ Nene in the song ‘Dola Re Dola’ from ‘Devdas’ (2002). Deepika, 29, thinks the comparison between the two songs is obvious.

“I understand why there is comparison… As the same director, two heroines dancing together, which is not a very common thing… But the situation in this film is different, Deepika said.

Here, it is a song of celebration. We were excited and happy that we got the opportunity to shoot this song together,” she also said.

Priyanka echos her co-star’s views and insists the two songs are different as the scenario in the songs is different.

Here are some of the reasons why Dola Re Dola was a smashing hit is because of the colour scheme that was used in the song sequence. The massive set with the beautiful red and white colour coding successfully caught everyone’s eye and Aishwarya and Madhuri’s red and white saree added the extra touch of glamour to the song whereas the colours used in Pinga are comparatively dull and lacks vibrancy throughout the song.

The  fact  is here that though the song ‘Pinga’ constantly reminds us of ‘Dola re’, we miss Madhuri’s magic in the song. The chemistry, which we all were yearning for, could not be felt between Deepika and Priyanka.
