Prolific Bollywood Artist Kader Khan Breathes His Last in Canada at 81

Bollywood’s noteworthy artist Kader Khan is no more. He died at the age of 81 after suffering from a prolonged breathing illness for the past several months.

Khan had been residing with his family in Canada. His son Sarfaraz confirmed his demise, “My dad left us. He passed away on December 31 at 6 PM as per Canadian time due to prolonged illness. He slipped into coma in the afternoon. He was in the hospital for 16-17 weeks. The last rites will be performed here in Canada only. We have our entire family here and we live here so we are doing it.” Sarfaraz thanked everyone for their prayers and blessings.

The illustrious actor during his last days was put on a ventilator and was unable to speak. The actor suffered from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), an uncommon brain disorder causing restrictions in balance movements. He also caught pneumonia when in hospital.

Kader Khan was a rare gem who easily slipped into characters be it villainous, comic or a father figure. He essayed all these roles with aplomb. Khan was born in Kabul. His first film was Daag in 1971. He acted in over 300 movies. Khan was also a lauded screen writer. He wrote dialogues for over 250 films. Jawani Diwani in 1972 was his first as screen writer.

Earlier, a day ago, rumours of Khan’s death was doing rounds which were trashed by his son Sarfaraz.
