Tanushree Dutta to Return to US after MeToo Controversy

Former Miss India and Bollywood actor Tanushree Dutta is set to return to New Jersey. She sparked the #MeToo movement in the country. Before moving back to the United States she disclosed, “My future lies there. I will head out early next year. When I came down to Mumbai, I thought I would go back after a month, but it’s been five months”.

Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar has been framed for an intimate dance step in the 2008 movie Horn Ok Please by the former Miss India. She has also accused director Vivek Agnihotri of Chocolate movie (2005), enacting her in a sensual dance scene removing her clothes infront of Irfan Khan.

The very movement saw mass female aspiring and established actors levelling allegations against actors, directors and co workers. The actor pointed, “I do not look at it as now hot, now cold. Such things are a revolution. What matters is its impact in the future. It has created an atmosphere where sexual predators are aware that they cannot get away with misbehaviour. It came as a surprise when women began calling out the sexual predators. I am aware that #MeToo cannot be front page news everyday”.

On getting justice, she added, “I have been living with it for a decade without redressal. The legal process is not dependent on me being around. If I have to be around to push the case, what is the point of legal system and law enforcers?”
