Rare Feet: KIMS Surgeons Remove 14 Kg Tumour From Minor Girl’s Abdomen


Bhubaneswar: In a very rare kind of surgery, surgeons at the Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here removed a 14 Kg tumour from the abdomen of a tribal minor girl today.

A team of four doctors heded by Dr. P.S Pujari successfully removed the tumour from the minor girl’s stomach.

“A 16-year-old tribal girl from Keonjhar district was admitted to the hospital with a rare tumour. After examining the girl several times we worked out the process of the surgery step by step and removed the tumour from her abdomen successfully. The weight of the mass(tumour) is around 14 Kgs.

The girl is perfectly alright though she is in the ICU,” said Dr. P S Pujari.
