Election Commission Orders Eros Now To Discontinue PM Modi Web Series Online


The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered the Eros Now digital media to stop streaming of the PM Modi’s web series – ‘Modi – The journey of a common man’ online till further orders on Saturday.

Mahesh Thakur plays the lead role in the web series of PM Modi which is directed by Umesh Shukla. Till now, five episodes have been webcasted online starting from April 3.

The EC said, “In view of the admitted facts and material available on record, this web series being an original web series on Shri Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister and a political leader and a prospective candidate in the current general elections to the Lok Sabha cannot be exhibited.”

Earlier, the Election Commission has delayed the release of Vivek Oberoi starrer PM Modi biopic movie after it was heard in the Supreme Court and the court asked the election body to take up the issue.

On April 10, the Chief Election Commissioner in Delhi had asked to register an FIR against Eros Now since the web series was webcasted online without any certification.
