Knife Gang Loots Passengers of Two AC Coaches of Duronto Express in Delhi

Multiple passengers of Jammu-Delhi Duronto Express were robbed by 7 to 10 armed robbers at knife point in two AC coaches around 3:30 AM near Delhi Sarai Rohilla station on Thursday.

Train no. 12266 was on its way from Jammu to Delhi when this scaring incident happened. Passengers of B3 and B7 AC coaches were looted in the theft incident.

The railway authorities were alerted after a passenger Ashwini Kumar alerted about the incident on the railways’ complaint portal.

Kumar posted, “As train number 12266, which stops only at its source and destination stations, was approaching the Delhi station, stopped at around 3.30 AM awaiting signal, seven to ten miscreants entered coaches B3 and B7 of the train.”

The passengers were threatened with knife and were told to hand over their valuables like purses, cash, carry bags, gold chains, mobiles, ATM cards, sunglass and many more items.

Kumar further added, “The irony is that neither staff nor security personnel were available there at the time of the mishap.” The passengers could reach the train attendant and the TT 20 minutes after the loot.

A Northern Railways official said after the incident, “The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has initial leads in the matter. The culprits will be nabbed soon and stern action will be taken against them.”

Meanwhile, an RPF official has stated that  the signal was tampered at the Sarai Rohilla station for which the train stopped.
