Cuttack: In a surprising sweep down Samantarapur village under Kishan Nagar police station limits in Cuttack district, an eight-member team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) today arrested a native of the village allegedly over his link with a terror outfit.
According to reports, the NIA team arrested one Akhtar Hussain Khan of the village under Kisan Nagar police station limits after conducting a five- hour raid on his house today. The Kisan Nagar police personnel cordoned off the place while the NIA team arrested the youth after thorough grilling.
Sources in Odisha police said that the accused Akhtar Hussain Khan will be produced before Cuttack Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) and will be taken on remand by the NIA for further interrogation.
Sources said that Akhtar Hussain Khan might have been arrested for his link with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Abdul Naeem, who was arrested on November 28 from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh by the NIA and Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS).
