Newly elected Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dixit on Tuesday turned down all speculations of Congress Party forging alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Dixit divulged the details of the party meet headed by Congress President Rahul Gandhi, “There will be no alliance with the AAP. The decision was taken unanimously.”
Many senior leaders in the meeting were against this move. A senior Congress party member said, “We are a national party capable of winning the election in Delhi all by ourselves. Why should we fight only on one or two seats?”
Earlier on March 3, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal wished for “structured” talks with the grand old party on coalition and for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
On February 21, Kejriwal had said, “If today our alliance with Congress is done, the BJP will lose all seven seats in Delhi.”
