India’s automobile sales is under severe pressure as the passenger vehicles and cars recorded lowest ever sales in the month of August since 1998 as per data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Monday.
For the 10th straight month in August, passenger vehicle sales have fallen to 31.57% on an yearly basis to 196,524 units.
SIAM recorded the worst ever sales since 1997-98 amid several assurances by the government.
Earlier, Maruti Suzuki had stopped its production at Gurugram and Manesar plants in Haryana for two days.
Since April, around 350,000 employees have been laid down in automobile sector due to loss in sales.
