Bhubaneswar: The probe report of Bomikhal under-construction flyover collapse incident will be submitted within a week, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in a written statement in the state assembly today.
“A high level enquiry by a Committee comprising of Chief Engineer(Designs) and Chief Engineer(Roads) has been ordered which will conduct its inquiry and submit their report within a week,” Naveen said.
“My Government will ensure that stringent and exemplary action is taken against all persons responsible for this tragic incident,” he added.
However, Opposition Congress and BJP members rushed to the well of the House and shouted slogans demanding resignation of the Chief Minister while he was making the statement.
Unable to conduct the business of the house amid noisy protests by the opposition members, Speaker Pradeep Amat adjourned the house initially for an hour and then till 3 PM.
The Leader Of Opposition(LoP) Narasingha Mishra later alleged before the media that the Speaker did not allow him to speak in the house after the statement by the Chief Minister though he had submitted a written application to the chair thus denigrating democratic traditions. “The Speaker should behave in a non-partisan manner,” Narasingha rued.
Coming down heavily against the state government Narasingha claimed that it is not serious in investigating the incident as the director trio of the construction company got a chance to abscond due to the delay in action by the police.
Meanwhile, political blame game have started flying thick and fast over the Bomikhal flyover collapse incident in which one person died while 20 others have been injured. Two spokespersons of the state unit of the BJP Golak Mohapatra and Pruthviraj Harichandan today accused that BJD leader and former Law Minister Arun Sahu was closely associated with the Panda Infra company and even has business links with the construction company.
However, the former Law Minister Arun Sahu refuting the allegations told the media there was not an iota of truth in the charges. “The BJP has become desperate and resorting to mudslinging,” Arun retorted.
Earlier in the day, a forensic team inspected the accident site as part of the high-level probe team constituted by the Chief Minister on September 10 which started its investigation into the incident today. The team is expected to submit its report within a week.
