Rescue Operation Continues after Kulgam Avalanche Buries Police Post


Heavy snowfall in the Jammu and Kashmir districts has caused around 10 police personnel trapped in a police post in Kulgam after an avalanche on the evening of February 7.

Rescue operation is underway even in harsh conditions of strong cold storms and huge deposits of snow.

A police official said, “Rescue teams have reached closed to the site of the avalanche this morning. All efforts are being made to evacuate the trapped persons.”

The Jammu and Kashmir regions have been red alerted for the threat of occurrence of avalanche amid the heavy snow storm.

Snowfall has been witnessed in the Kashmir valley since February 6. Some areas in the valley have received around 5 feet snow.
