The Supreme Court took a dig at the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s government on extending sops and offers and simultaneously incurring losses with it on Friday.
The SC bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Deepak Gupta were hearing a plea filed by the Delhi government on sharing 50 percent on the land cost and taxes for the expansion of Phase-4 of the Delhi Metro.
The SC bench said, sops and losses cannot go together and it is a problem for the Centre to bear the 50 percent operational losses if the Delhi government permits free metro rides.
Justice Arun Mishra said, the court can cancel all your public offers. He also added, the state is responsible for transport losses.
The apex court ordered three weeks time to draw out plans and the land cost for the initiation of Delhi Metro’s Phase-4 operation to the state government and the Centre.
