Puri: With the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) authorities maintaining the heat in continuation with its drive to enforce strict guidelines, Tanka Torani sellers have vanished from the famous Ananda Bazar in the premises of the Jagannath Temple here to sell the drink at least for the last two days.
The SJTA continued its raids and quality checks since it decided not to allow sale of stale or inferior quality of Tanka Torani in the premises of the Trinity’s temple. Since September 9, the Tanka Torani vendors have stopped selling the watery drink made with mixture water rice, curd, lemon leaves and green chilly.
Since the pious month of kartik is not far away during which hundreds of habisiyalis (fasting widows) depend on mahaprasad (cooked prasad offered to the deities) being sold at the Ananda Bazar, streamlining the affairs ahead of the rush has assumed top priority for the SJTA.
Similarly, sale of mahaprasad inside the inner enclosure has been completely banned.
As per reports, the SJTA officials and vendors had heated arguments as the former tried to evict them from the inner enclosure. Amid the ruckus hot dal fell on a suara(person engaged in supplying of mahaprasad).
Interestingly, the vendors too are no more seen at the prohibited place.
Similarly, no ghee other than the one supplied by OMFED is being used by deepa vendors inside the holy shrine after the administration’s decision.
