Six people dead and several injured in Maharashtra’s Wardha district in Pulgaon’s CAD (Central Ammunition Depot) army depot. The huge detonation happened around 7 in the morning today.
The blast happened when the depot employees were disposing the unused explosives. Defence PRO, BB Pande, confirmed this unfortunate incident. The officials of Jabalpur & Chandrapur factory rushed to the spot.
The old explosives were disposed by the staff of Ordnance factory, Jabalpur at the CAD in Pulgaon. Since Ordnance factory at Jabalpur has no facility for disposal of unused explosives, it is generally done at CAD in Pulgaon.
Among the six deceased three were factory workers & one was staff. The people injured were villagers in the area.
Earlier in May 2016, 13 persons were killed in a fire mishap in CAD while disposing explosives.
