Veteran Congress party Chief Ajay Maken resigned from being party chief on January 3 citing health issues. Maken met Congress President Rahul Gandhi on January 3 evening and handed over his resignation as per party sources.
Ajay Maken in his tweet too announced it, “After the win in 2015 Assembly elections in Delhi, I got immense love and respect from party workers, the media coverage and also from our leader Rahul Gandhi ji too, for being the Congress party chief.”
AICC Delhi in-charge PC Chacko said, “Ajay Maken had held a meeting on the evening of January 3 before giving his resignation. In April 2018, Maken had submitted his resignation after the party’s debacle in municipal elections. However, that resignation was not accepted. While again in September 2018, Maken tendered his resignation once more citing health reasons.”
Maken had earlier left for Singapore for treatment to his recurring back pain.
