Ayodhya Land Case: SC Fixes October 18 for Final Hearing


The five-judge Supreme Court bench headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi has set October 18 as the deadline for the Ayodhya land dispute case hearing on Wednesday.

CJI Gogoi who is to retire as the Chief Justice of India on November 17 has allowed the parties free to mediate in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case.

The CJI appealed to all the petitioners to make a joint effort and work for long extra hours even on Saturdays to finish the hearing as per the set deadline on October 18.

CJI Ranjan Gogoi has pressed for the judgement of the Ayodhya land case to be completed before his retirement or else the case will be heard afresh by the next SC bench.
