Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Wednesday stunned the political space by announcing not to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The BSP leader said she wants to focus on increasing her seat sharing capacity with her alliance Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh and also in other states.
She said, “I am confident and sure that my party workers will accept this decision.”
She further added, if required she would contest the Lok Sabha elections later.
A week before, Mayawati had indicated of not contesting the Lok Sabha polls rather would continue expanding the Bahujan Samaj Party’s campaign and base.
A BSP leader said, Mayawati will kick-start her national campaigning in Odisha capital Bhubaneswar on April 2.
