The Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Lok Sabha criticized the Congress President Rahul Gandhi rude remarks on Rafale issue based on a media report earlier on Friday.
The Congress President alleged of “personal negotiations” in Rafale deal issue between Prime Minister Modi and the French.
On this statement by Gandhi, Sitharaman said, “They are flogging a dead horse. Periodical enquiries by the PMO cannot be construed as interference.”
Blaming the Hindu newspaper, Sitharaman said, the newspaper “did not carry Defence Minister’s reply” to the released report.
The defence minister asked on the “journalistic ethics” of the newspaper.
Nirmala Sitharaman further elaborated, “Then Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar ji replied to that MoD note that remain calm. There is nothing to worry about that. Everything is going alright. Now do you call the NAC led by Sonia Gandhi as interference in earlier the PMO? What was that?”
Earlier in the morning, Rahul Gandhi had demanded for a JPC probe in the Rafale issue based on the ‘The Hindu’ newspaper report.
The Congress President also said on Rs. 30,000 crores bypassed by PM Modi and deposited the sum in Anil Ambani’s pocket.
To this statement, Sitharaman replied, “It is very dangerous… Is he trying to provoke the defence forces?”
