A Delhi Court has issued bailable warrant against Congress MP Shashi Tharoor over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s defamation case on Tuesday.
The criminal petition against Tharoor was filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajiv Babbar.
Earlier on October 28, 2018, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor at the Bangalore Literature Festival had labelled PM Modi as a “scorpion sitting on a Shiva ling.”
However, both Babbar and Tharoor were absent in the court and the chief Metropolitan magistrate imposed fines on both of them.
MP Tharoor has been imposed surety of rupees 5000.
Meanwhile, Rajiv Babbar had filed an exemption application and the court rejected it.
The magistrate has penalised Babbar of rupees 500.
The Delhi Court has scheduled November 27 for the next hearing.
