The Delhi High Court asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit a status report within September 23 on the regular bail plea of jailed former Union Minister P Chidambaram charged with money laundering in INX Media case on Thursday.
The Delhi HC Justice Suresh Kait issued the notice to CBI and asked Chidambaram’s lawyer Kapil Sibal on the late filing of the regular bail plea.
Sibal answered the late bail filing was due to the long weekend holiday.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta representing the CBI said the charge sheet is at its nascent stage and Chidmabaram’s investigation has accused him of corruption.
Chidmabaram’s son Karti Chidambaram was also present during the Delhi HC hearing.
