The Delhi High Court rejected anticipatory bail plea of former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram in INX Media corruption and disproportionate funds case on Tuesday.
The Delhi HC Justice Sunil Gaur said the bail plea is unfit and is a direct case of money laundering .
Earlier, on July 25, 2018 the court had provided interim protection to Chidambaram from being arrested. Also on January 25, this year the high court had held its order.
An FIR was lodged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Chidambaram in 3500-crore Aircel-Maxis deal and INX Media case where clearance was granted by Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) which involved swindling of rupees 305 crores.
During P Chidambaram’s tenure as Finance Minister in 2007, the deal was signed.
Later, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had lodged a case of money laundering against Chidambaram in 2018.
