ED Issues Search Notice against P Chidambaram

Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram has been issued search notice by the Enforcement Directorate after the Supreme Court bench of Justice forwarded the money laundering case to the Chief Justice of India on Wednesday.

The ED has issued a search operation against Chidambaram at airports and immigration counters.

After the Delhi High Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of P Chidambaram on August 20, Chidambaram knocked the SC doors for his bail plea.

Then, the Supreme Court bench headed by Justice NV Ramana further moved the case to CJI Ranjan Gogoi’s referral.

Earlier in the day, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta stood against Chidambaram’s bail plea in the SC.

P Chidambaram had approached the Supreme Court to seek protection against his arrest in the 3500 crore Aircel-Maxis deal and INX Media case.

Chidambaram is accused by the CBI of swindling money of rupees 305 crores.
