Four army personnel and security officials were dead after a fierce encounter happened in Pinglana village on the intervening night of February 18. One civilian was also reported dead in the encounter.
Two terrorists have been reported dead and one of them is suspected to be the mastermind and bomb designer, JeM Commander Abdul Rasheed Ghazi alias Kamran of the February 14 blast. Kamran was the trusted aide of JeM (Jaish-e-Mohammad) chief Maulana Masood Azhar.
After the 44 CRPF personnel were killed in the massive Pulwama blast on February 14, defence personnel have swung to action to bring justice to the perpetrators involved after PM Modi had announced ‘free hand’ action to the security personnel.
The J&K police along with the army after getting a tip-off had launched a search and cordon operation in Pinglana village just 10 kms away from the blast site that killed 44 CRPF personnel.
Three JeM terrorists including the mastermind behind the suicide bomber Adil Ahmad Dar were hidden in a house in Pinglana village.
The militants got alerted after the security personnel surrounded them and heavy firing took place. The villagers were announced to stay in their homes.
The police said, “There was firing only initial half an hour and then it stopped. The search operation was further continued.”
After 7 hours, exchange of fire again happened around 8:45 AM on Monday.
The four deceased soldiers belonged to the 55 Rashtriya Rifles including a major were rushed to the army’s 92 base hospital in Srinagar succumbed to their injuries.
While it is still assumed, 2 to 3 Jaish extremists are still hiding in the area.
