India Demands Action from Neighbouring Country’s Claims of ‘Naya Pakistan, Nayi Soch’

The External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar while addressing a press meet on Saturday on security issues along Indo-Pak border said Pakistan should assert itself by taking responsibility in terms of action against the terror module operating in its region.

Earlier, Pakistan has claimed this country is a “Naya Pakistan” and has a “naya soch (new initiative)”.

Raveesh Kumar said, “If Pakistan claims to be a “naya (new)” Pak with “nayi soch”, it should demonstrate “naya” action against terror groups and terror infrastructure on its soil and end cross-border terrorism.”

Kumar added, “It is regrettable that Pakistan still continues to deny Jaish-e-Mohammed’s claim of taking ownership of Pulwama attack. Pakistan Foreign Minister said, ‘they (JeM) have not claimed responsibility for that (Pulwama attack)’… Is Pakistan defending the Jaish-e-Mohammed and acing as its spokesperson?”

Kumar dismissed Pakistan’s statement that it shot 2 Indian fighter jets in the air violation encounter. The MEA spokesperson opined, “Only one aircraft was lost by us. Pakistan is spreading false propaganda.”

He added, “If, as Pakistan claims, they have a video recording of the downing of a second Indian aircraft, why have they not shown it to the international media even after more than a week?”

Kumar asserted strongly, “There are eye witnesses accounts and electronic evidence that Pakistan deployed F-16 aircraft and that one F-16 was shot down by Wing Commander Abhinandan. We have asked USA to also examine whether the use of F-16 against India is in accordance with terms and conditions of sale.”

On Pakistan’s fleeting attitude, the MEA spokesperson replied, “We are seeing the same script that has been played out earlier, after the terror attack on Parliament in 2001, the Mumbai attack in 2008 and the attack on Pathankot airbase in 2016. Pakistan claims to proscribe groups and individuals, but this is confined only to paper. Terror groups and individuals continue their activities without hindrance.”

Kumar commented, “Pakistan will be judged not by the words they speak, but the actions they take. Besides issuing notifications in the gazette, they have to dismantle terrorist infrastructure.”
