Mayawati Breaks Up Alliance with Samajwadi Party

Earlier this month, after the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati changed her stance from not contesting the by-elections in Uttar Pradesh with the Samajwadi Party (SP), the BSP chief officially announced the break up with Akhilesh Yadav’s SP on Monday.

In a series of tweets, Mayawati said the BSP will fight elections all by itself which is according to the party’s interests.

She further added elections in the future, small or big will be contested by the BSP alone.

The BSP and SP had buried two decades of hostility among them and had merged together for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The BSP supremo also tweeted, “Several anti-Dalit measures undertaken by the SP created problems in reservation. The law and order in the state was also disrupted. The BSP had supported the alliance with SP on national interest.”

Mayawati also highlighted on the Samajwadi Party’s reaction after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections debacle.
