Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress leader, after resisting the removal of Alok Verma as CBI chief has now voiced openly asking the PM to make public all the proceedings in the former CBI Director Alok Verma’s ouster. Kharge was the leader of opposition in the high level 3-member selection committee on January 10, who voted against Verma’s ouster.
The 2-page letter stamped by Kharge himself has alleged over the bribery charges pressed on Verma, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) findings, reports on Alok Verma from Justice A K Patnaik and the details of the January 10 high level selection meeting.
Also, Kharge has targeted the acting CBI director Nageswar Rao appointment as “illegal”.
Kharge in his letter has opined, “The actions of the government in this matter indicate that it is scared of having the CBI headed by an independent Director. The government should come clean by releasing the CVC report, the report of Justice Patnaik and the minutes of the meeting held on 10 January 2019.”
