PM Modi in Russia as Chief Guest of Fifth Eastern Economic Forum


Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Vladivostok to discuss on key issues concerning investment, trade, energy and arms deal with the Russian President Vlaidmir Putin on Wednesday.

PM Modi who is on a two-day visit to Russia tweeted, “Landed in Vladivostok, capital of the Russian Far East and crossroads of a dynamic region. Looking forward to joining various programmes in this short but important visit.”

The Indian Prime Minister received a Guard of Honour at the Vladivostok International Airport. This is the Indian Prime Minister’s third bilateral visit to Russia.

The Indian PM and the Russian President together went to the Zvezda ship-building complex where PM Modi interacted with the management and workers and the Russian President showed cutting edge technologies which will contribute to development in Arctic shipping.

PM Modi tweeted, “Deeply touched by President Putin’s gracious gesture to accompany me to Zvezda shipyard.”

PM Modi said he felt honoured to be the chief guest of the 5th Eastern Economic Forum and expressed his gratitude to the people of Russia for the announcement of bestowing highest civilian honour on him.

The 5th Eastern Economic Forum is scheduled for September 5.

The two world leaders will hold the 20th India-Russia Annual meet to boost partnership with Asian countries later in the day.
