Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday blew the 2019 poll bugle made by kickstarting her political campaign through a roadshow in Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh after being crowned the Congress party’s general secretary in charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh earlier this year.
Priyanka, the daughter of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was accompanied by elder brother and Congress President Rahul Gandhi along with MP Jyotiraditya Scindia.
The three Congress leaders boarded over an open bus and traversed a 25 km long journey in the major lanes of Lucknow city.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Jyotiraditya Scindia will continue to engage in a political campaign over next four days in Lucknow.
While Rahul Gandhi reiterated, “Chowkidaar chor hai”. Congress supporters in large numbers with the party flags have welcomed Priyanka’s political debut in the city.
Rahul Gandhi voiced, “We will play at the front foot. Scindia ji, Priyanka ji and I will not rest until a Congress-principled government is formed here.”
The Congress President added, “Obviously, the aim is Lok Sabha polls. But I have told Priyanka and Scindia that the bigger aim is to win UP in 2022.”
Both the Gandhi siblings were seen alighting from the cavalcade and paying homage to the Sardar Patel statue at GPO Park in Hazratgunj by placing garlands.
