Newly inducted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Bhopal candidate and Malegaon blast accused Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur said at a press conference on Friday in Bhopal that she had cursed former Anti terror Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare who died in Mumbai terror attacks in 2008.
Hemant Karkare was the probing officer in Malegaon blast case. In her conversation with Karkare, Thakur recollected, “I called Hemant Karkare and asked him to let me go if there is no evidence. He said that he will bring evidence but will not leave me.”
Sadhvi in reply to Karkare said, “I said may you perish, his inauspicious time started from that moment and he was killed by terrorists in a month.”
Sadhvi Thakur is among the seven persons accused in the Malegaon blast case of September 29, 2008 in which 6 people were killed and over 100 injured. She is currently out on bail.
She is facing trial for terrorist activities conspiracy and abetting.
However, in May 2016 the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had cleared her from all charges but the court intervened.
