Tarun Gogoi to be CM candidate in 2016 Assam polls: Rahul

All India Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday announced that Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi will be the Congress’ chief ministerial candidate for the 2016 Assam state assembly elections on his two-day visit to Assam.

Tarun GogoiHe said that his party has full confidence in the leadership of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and the chief minister and only they would decide about any alliance with any political parties in Assam.

Gandhi also interacted with a group of women entrepreneurs of the state and addressed his party leaders.

He is scheduled to leave for Barpeta district, 90 km from Guwahati, to participate in a seven kilometre ‘pad yatra’ or road show.
