Bhubaneswar: May 18: Daily Covid cases in Odisha started declining. As informed by I & PR Department, Govt. of Odisha, on 17th May, it was 10,321. Of this, 5779 are quarantine cases whereas 4542 are local contact cases.
Again, daily cases in Khurda district went up. On 16th May, it was 909 and on 17th May, it became 1566, which highest among districts. Sundergarh district reported 819 fresh cases, followed by Cuttack 731 cases, Kalahandi 599 cases, Puri 472 cases, Angul 471 cases, Mayurbhanj 458 cases, Samablpur 405 cases, Bhadrak 350 cases, Koraput 338 cases, Nawarangpur 334 cases, Jajpur 330 cases, Bargareh 320 cases, Jharsuguda 312 cases, Bolangir 291 cases, Nayagarh 273 cases, Balasore 269 cases, Boudh 250 cases, Keonjhar 204 cases, Ganjam 203 cases, Rayagada 163 cases, Kendrapara 162 cases, Jagatsinghpur 159 cases, Nuapada 145 cases, Deogarh 114 cases, Dhenkanal & Malkangiri 77 cases each, Sonepur 73 casses, Gajapati 56 cases, Kandhamal 54 cases and also 246 cases were found from State Pool.
On 17th May, 11,821 patients have recovered from the disease. With this, total persons recovered from the infection so far reached 5,26,353.
In last 24 hours, 22 patients have died while under treatment in hospitals. With this, total deaths registered so far in Odisha increased to 2357.
At present, 1,04,539 people cases are active.
