2 Held In Killing Of Kidnapped Lecturer In Mayurbhanj


Baripada: The Mayurbhanj police recovered the dead body of Sudheer Mohanta, a lecturer who was kidnapped about 17 days ago, from Betanati forests and arrested two persons in this connection today.

The two accused have been identified as Sheikh Raju and Ajay Patra.

Talking to the media, Baripada SDPO Abhimanyu Nayak said Sudheer was killed with a motive to loot Rs 90 lakh he had received by selling off a piece of land.

Altogether six persons were involved in executing the kidnapping and killing of Sudheer. The two arrested persons had information on the sale of the plot by the victim and drawn the blueprint on September 25 to loot the money.

As part of the sinister design, the accused carried Sudheer in a car to the Betanati forest after kidnapping him from Baripada town and forcibly snatching the money on the intervening night. Later, they finished him by strangulationg in the forest under Betanati sub-division and buried his body in the forests, Abhimanyu Nayak added.

Details about the planning to kidnap and kill Sudheer Mohanta came to the fore after the arrest of Sheikh Raju and Ajay Patra today morning.

The district police have launched a manhunt to nab the four others involved in the crime
