Baby Swapping Row In Rayagada District Headquarter Hospital

Rayagada: Tension mounted up in the district headquarters hospital (DHH) here today after a tribal couple from Kashipur block in the district alleged that some staff of the hospital swapped their newborn boy with a stillborn girl.

According to reports, the woman who hails from Kumbharasila village in Kashipur block, was admitted to the DHH as she developed labour pain on June 10 night. She delivered a child on June 11 and the as the newborn’s condition deteriorated, the hospital staff took the baby to the SNCU ward.

Meanwhile, the woman’s condition also deterorated for which she was shifted to Koraput hospital for better treatment. Later, the hospital staff allegedly handed over a dead girl child to the woman’s relative. However, newborn’s family me,bers declined to accept the baby alleging it was not theirs.

Later, the family members staged a protest in front of the hospital demanding their baby boy back.
On the other hand, the hospital authorities refuted the allegations of the family.
