Biju Janata Dal (BJD) senior leader and Aska MP Ladu Kishore Swain breathed his last at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar in the intervening night of February 6.
Swain was 71 years old. He experienced uneasiness in his breathing and was admitted to Apollo hospital by family members on February 5. Swain had been affected for kidney disorder and passed away undergoing treatment at hospital.
Swain’s deceased body will be taken to his birth place at Pathara village in Kabisuryanagar in Ganjam district for the last rites.
Ladu Kishore Swain was born on July 8, 1947 at Pathara village. In 2014, he got elected to Lok Sabha from BJD under Aska constituency. In 2004, he got elected as MLA from Kabisuryanagar assembly constituency.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his grief and said Swain “was an able parliamentarian as well as a distinguished member of the state legislature.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also saddened to hear Swain’s loss and expressed the BJD’s senior leader “immense contribution” and “rich service” towards rural development.
