BJP Spokesperson Golak Mohapatra Helped Key Conspirators In Chhatrapur Councillor Laxmidutta Murder Case

Bhubaneswar: A key spokesperson and senior leader of Odisha BJP, Golak Mohapatra, has landed in trouble after the alleged key conspirator in the sensational Chhatrapur BJD councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan murder case today named the former of helping the duo hide in Dehradun to evade arrest.

The recorded statement of the arrested BJP leader Krushnachandra Nayak is all set to put senior party leader Golak Mohapatra and the saffron party in deep trouble.

“After staying in Kolkata for 10-12 days, I gave a phone call to our leader Golak Bhaina(Golak Mohapatra) and requested him to help. He asked us to go to Dehradun. A person named Chandu contacted us and took us to a guest house. He gave us room no 204,” Krushnachandra Nayak said in the video recordings.

The Ganjam police today informed that they are planning to take the accused on remand for interrogation to elicit more information from the duo about the murder case.

“We will go for physical verification of the statement to collect both supplementary and complementary evidences and we have kept it open,” Ganjam SP Asish Singh told the media.

The two prime accused, BJP Ganjam district unit secretary Krushnachandra Nayak and Duryodhan Reddy absconding since the killing of Laxmidutta have been arrested from Dehradun. Ganjam police had formed three special squads to nab all those involved in the murder of the councilor.

The arrested BJP man told that they took a taxi from Chhatrapur to Cuttack after the incident to avoid arrest. After staying for two days in Cuttack, they boarded a train to Kolkata where they stayed for another 10-12 days.

The two called up BJP leader Golak Mohapatra seeking his assistance. The latter reportedly instructed them to leave for Dehradun where he facilitated their hide at a guest house.

Notably, Chhatrapur Councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan was murdered by a group of individuals in broad daylight on September 16 this year.

Meanwhile, political blame game has ensued in the state owing to the arrest of the duo.

“When the accused says in his statement that BJP leader helped them to hide, it says all about their character,” said senior BJD leader Surjya Narayan Patro. “This shows their dual nature,” he added.

On the other hand, BJP claimed it to be a conspiracy hatched against the party by the ruling BJD.

“It is a conspiracy against BJP for its resurgence in Ganjam district. The ruling party has become intolerant and using the government machinery and the police to its advantage. We are ready to face the law,” BJP leader Sajjan Sharma reacted.
