Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, the Odisha Cabinet today approved the restructuring of the Odisha Administrative Service(OAS) by increasing the cadre strength to 1,711 from 1,558 and revision of cadre strength ofOdisha Administrative Service(OAS) by increasing it to 800 from present 727.
The State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also gave its approval to the Odisha Fire Prevention and Fire Safety Rules-2017.
“The Fire Service rules have 22 sections relating to duties and accountability, responsibility of owners of commercial and residential complexes and enforcement conferred on fire service,” informed Chief Secretary A P Padhi.
The Cabinet also approved the proposal to set up a Handlooms and Handicrafts Development and Promotion Council to ensure growth of the industry and welfare of artisans. The proposal of setting up the council was cleared with an additional proposal of Rs 20 crore to be allocated during the current financial year to the council.
“The council’s major purpose would be to assess the impact of various schemes and programmes being implemented for weavers and artisans and advice the government for framing right kind of policies for the improvement of handlooms and handicrafts sectors,” said AP Padhi. However, the structure of the council is yet to be decided, said the official.
