Cuttack fire mishap: Six of family burnt to death

Cuttack: In a shocking incident four members of a family have been charred to death in a major fire that broke out in a house in CDA sector-7 area of Odisha’s millennium city this evening  at around 8.30 PM, reports said.

The deceased were identified as Anadi Sahoo, his daughter Anita, his sister Kuni and Kuni’s three children.

While the three children and Kuni were burnt to death on the spot, Anadi and Anita sustained Cuttack fire mishap Six of family burnt to deathsevere burn injuries and were admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital. However, they succumbed to injuries on Friday morning.

 Leakage of gas from a LPG stove is suspected to be the cause of the fire, local sources said. However, the real cause of the fire is not yet known.

Police are investigating into the incident from both the angles of suicide and murder.

As per the fire brigade official, the intensity of the blaze was very high. When the team reached to douse the fire, the door of the room was kept open, he added.

Stating that cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, a police official said details about the incident could be known after recovery of the injured persons.

Notably, one Arun Sahoo and his family had been staying in the house on rent. Anadi Sahoo, Aurn’s father, had come a few days ago, sources said.
