Cuttack: LTT Express Hits Stationary Goods Train in Heavy Fog Conditions; 20 Injured


The Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Express slammed into a stationed goods train from its rear between Salagaon and Nergundi railway station in Cuttack around 7 AM on Thursday.

Around 20 persons have been injured in the incident. Five among the injured are in critical condition.

As per the incident, the Mumbai-Bhubaneswar LTT super fast express collided with the immobile goods train under heavy hog conditions in the morning.

In the accident, five coaches of the LTT express have been derailed and three more coaches have moved off the tracks.

Fire fighter services and police personnel rushed to the accident site but rescue procedures were slowed down due to foggy weather.

However, train realignment procedures are underway to clear the accident trains off the track.

The injured ones were rushed to the SCB Medical College and Hospital via ambulance vehicles.

Meanwhile, five train services have been affected and have been diverted to different routes.
