Puri(Samaya Bureau): A day after a high-level expert team of the Archaeological Survey of India(ASI) inspected the sanctum sanctorum of the Jagannath Temple, a five member team of the Justice Bimal Prasad Das Commision today today visited the kitchen of the temple here. The tea was headed by Retired Justice B P Das.
The Rosasala(kitchen) remains closed for 9 days every year when the Trinity goes out on their annual sojourn to Gundicha temple.
The visiting team took stock of the kitchen and had a look at the Ganga and Jamuna wells, water of which is used for preparation of Mahaprasad. The commission members examined the arrangements made for cooking, the condition of the floor, sanitation and sewerage facilities inside the kitchen.
More than 600 cooks and nearly 400 assistants cook the ‘bhog’ of Lord Jagannath, Goddess Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra, including Mahaprasad. The kitchen has over 350 chullahs.
The Das Commission would soon submit its report to the state government.
