Bhubaneswar: A female student of DAV School of Business Management (DSBM) located in Unit-8 area of state capital, committed suicide last night under mysterious circumstances.
The deceased girl has been identified as Taniya Banerjee, a Bachelor of Commerce(BCom) student of the institution and she hailed from Talcher area in Angul district.
According to reports, the deceased girl Taniya Banerjee went to bed after mid-night but did not open the door of her hostel room till late this morning. After the hostel superintendent broke open the door of her room, she was found hanging from the ceiling with her dupatta. A suicide note was also found next to the body of the deceased.
The Twin City police officials reached the spot and sent the body to Capital Hospital for post-mortem after being intimated by the authorities of the business school.
However, things took an ugly turn following the arrival of Taniya Banerjee’s parents who received the shocking news of her death from media personnel present at the school. Later, Taniya’s mother claimed that she was being tortured in the hostel by her inmates as well as members of the the hostel administration.
“My daughter phoned me up last night and narrated her ordeal of torture by her seniors. She was under immense mental stress quite for some time now. She was crying and even told me that she would commit suicide. However, I consoled her and told to meet her today at the hostel, but unfortunately this incident happened”, a sobbing mother of Taniya complained.
On the other hand the Principal of DSBM Dwarika Nath Mishra brushed aside all these allegations against the college authorities and said the deceased was mentally okay till last night.
