Deep Depression over Bay of Bengal May Bring Rains to Odisha


A deep depression lays centered over the Bay of Bengal almost 930 kilometres from Chennai. According to IMD (Indian Meteorological Department), it can further intensify into a cyclonic storm tomorrow morning.

The predicted trajectory of the cyclone formation may make landfall on Andhra Pradesh’s coast on Monday afternoon. A change in weather is due to effect on December 16. The southern and interior Odisha will receive heavy rainfall under its effect on December 17.

The deep depression turning cyclone will be named ‘Phethai’. This is the third such cyclone to hit the South-Eastern coast of India in the previous two months. Cyclone Titli hit Odisha in October and Cycole Titli hit Tamil Nadu in November.
