The residents of the twin city, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack woke up to thick fog cover on Saturday. Flights were cancelled and diverted in the Biju Patnaik International Airport due to zero visibility.
While, reports of accidents have come from Damana near KIIT chowk, where an auto and a scooty have collided.
Train services were also put on hold. Normal life was disrupted and early morning walkers also faced problem in both the cities.
According to the Met department, the fog formed due to the southern winds mixing up with the moisture in the air. The fog started forming at night around 2.25 AM.
At first the visibility was reduced to 100 metres and later it further narrowed to less than 50 metres.
The Met department further added, not only in the twin city of Odisha, coastal areas, too, experienced thick fog. It is predicted that the fog formation will continue for the next two days.
