Bandh has been observed in two districts of Odisha, Dhenkanal for 12 hours and Bhawanipatna for 16 hours on Tuesday.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for a dawn to dusk strike in Dhenkanal over a 4 point charter demand.
The demand includes granting status to the old hospital to new city hospital at Bajirout Chowk, appointment of new doctors and nurses for the hospital, establishment of police outpost near the hospital and implementation of Union government’s Ayusman Bharat Yojana.
The BJP workers have picketed various government organizations. Normal life has taken a hit and schools, colleges and markets have been shut down.
While in Bhawanipatna, the Janmamati Surakshya Sangram Samiti outfit has called for a 16 hour protest from 6 AM to 9 PM.
The outfit has demanded allotment of land documents to slum dwellers in the town.
Normal life in Bhawanipatna, too, has come to a standstill. Vehicles have been taken off road. But educational institutions have been barred from this bandh.
The protesters have been raising slogans at specific chowks since morning.
Police have been deployed in both districts to avoid any untoward incident.
