Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha police’s Crime Branch today arrested director a woman director of a real-estate firm here for allegedly duping purchasers in crores.
The arrested woman has been identified as Nirupama Sundaray, Director of Arundhati Infratech Pvt. Ltd.
According to EOW sources, the registered office of the real-estate firm Arundhati Infratech Pvt. Ltd. company at Plot No K-6, HIG-177 in Kalinga Vihar here had published advertisements in media for booking residential plots with houses of its project ‘Arundhati Vihar’ located in Jagasara mouza under Jatni tehsil during 2010.
The company signed agreements with over 250 prospective purchasers to provide simplex houses with the plot and later the company executed sale deed on receipt of the cost of land and part payment towards the construction of the houses.
The company had collected around Rs 3 crore from intended buyers and as per agreement, the company had to complete the construction within a period of 18-24 months from the date of approval of the building plan.
However, the construction work has not been completed though around seven years have elapsed.
The EOW investigation further revealed that the firm has executed many forged sale deeds using fake documents without any record of right with ulterior designs to cheat the purchasers.
The accused was forwarded to court today and on rejection of her bail application has been sent to the judicial custody.
